V-LAB Profile interview Harriet Manuake

What is your name?
My name is Harriet Manuake Sam
Island of origin?
Originally, I come from Emae Island
and married to Malekula
What is your business idea?
My business idea is growing organic
herbs and vegetables.
What inspired this idea?
Witnessing a lot of people with
non-communicable diseases (NCDs)
such as diabetes and hypertension
especially in Port Vila. And knowing
that NCD is preventable.
Also my spiritual faith in God and
knowing that it is not God’s plan
that people should be living sick
in this world. As in Jeremiah 29:11
where God spoke to Prophet
Jeremiah and the same to us saying,
“I alone know the plans I have for
you, plans to bring you prosperity
and not disaster, plans to bring
about the future you hope for”. So,
to fulfil your purpose on this earth, one needs to find and trust God. Living life to the fullest requires physical energy and a passion to really make a difference that will touch lives.

What are your hopes for this business?
To bring a positive message to our society with a focus on health and wellness To further expand the business to
export these products overseas. To be a role model for the next generation.

what do you hope to learn in the V-LAB incubation program as an incubee?

To acquire some business knowledge especially around finance management.
To have some coaching sessions from an entrepreneur who has a successful business so that he/she
will be able to guide and answer any questions that I have.
What is your advice to other entrepreneurs with big ideas?
Our country motto says, “Long God yumi stanap”; So dream big because with God, anything is possible. Believe in God and believe in yourself. In Practical terms, develop yourself in the area of your interest. E.g. Read inspirational books or watch YouTube to learn more about the particular subject; find role models and do what they did to become
successful. Finally, be a man and woman of character because it will do you wonders on your journey to being successful.
