Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adela Issachar Aru has welcomed continued investment in the country’s accommodation sector following the rebranding of Breakas Beach Resort as The Beach in Pango.
Speaking at the official rebranding ceremony on Tuesday evening, CEO Aru said the former Breakas Beach Resort had for many years provided accommodation for visitors from Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, the United States and Europe.
She said continued investment in accommodation properties was important as Vanuatu’s tourism industry recovered from the impact of border closures.
Aru acknowledged the resort’s general manager and staff for their work during the border closures and subsequent recovery period.
“The VTO, the greater Vanuatu tourism family, the Government of Vanuatu and our people here will look forward to watching this location evolve and supporting the team that is already here,” she said.
Andrew Deeley said the resort was currently performing well, with bookings keeping it full for the next couple of months.
“The resort is running really well at the moment. It’s full — it’s full for the next couple of months — so it’s hard to improve on something that’s already full,” Andrew said.
He said his brothers, Brendan and Mark, had previously completed about 23 acquisitions together, while he had joined the business partnership more recently.
Brendan said the new owners would focus on marketing the resort and using their business networks to attract more visitors to Vanuatu.
“We will go out and use all of our marketing and our networks that we have all around to bring in more people to Vanuatu,” he said.
Brendan said tourism was important to Vanuatu’s economic growth and that the family wanted to contribute to its development.
He said the family had seen the tourism industry improve over the past three years and believed there was further room for growth.
