Tove Foods partners with HXM Shop to support farmers after market closure

Tove Foods is calling on former Port Vila Market vendors to register at its offices to be integrated into a new distribution framework, a step designed to help vendors regain their business operations.

Tove Foods has joined forces with HXM Supermarket to support farmers affected by the closure of the Port Vila Market House. The partnership involves HXM leasing two of its smaller shops to Tove Foods Ltd, enabling meat distribution and creating opportunities for displaced market vendors.

According to Tove Foods, the agreement with HXM comes at a critical time, as many farmers are struggling due to the market’s closure. The initiative aims to provide farmers with a reliable outlet for their goods and ensure local products remain accessible to consumers.

“The first shop, located in Freshwota 1 near the HXM fuel station, will open on January 20, 2025. The second, at Tagabe, is set to open on April 10, 2025. Another location, Freshwota Park Shop, will launch earlier, on January 10, 2025.

“Tove Foods also plans to open additional shops between January and April, with locations to be announced,” Tove Foods informed the Daily Post.

The shops will focus on selling key items, including meat, vegetables, root crops, and soft drinks. This targeted product range is expected to support both local farmers and the wider community.

As Vanuatu continues to recover from the recent earthquake, this partnership marks a significant step in strengthening the local economy and aiding farmers during challenging times.
