22 Police Officers trained under NZ Community Policing program

22 Police Officers have completed a certificate in Community Policing this week. The officers represented Police Posts in TAFEA, PORT VILA, MALAMPA, PENAMA and TORBA.

Through the Vanuatu Policing Programme, New Zealand Police are supporting the VPF effort to develop community-based policing and work more closely with people in the provinces.

The training which opened earlier this week at the Police College, focuses on community-oriented policing which aims to build ties with members of the communities.

The opening was attended by the Chairman of Vanuatu Police Service Commission, Rafe Taiwia, Acting Police Commissioner, Robson Iavro, NZ High Commissioner, Jonathan Schwass, First Secretary NZ High Commission, Luke Gaskin, and the NZ Police Advisors working to develop the Community Policing program funded by the New Zealand Government.
