In a significant milestone for both the business community and the citizens of Vanuatu, Federal Pacific Insurance (FPI) Group opened its new office in Port Vila, Vanuatu, on February 15, 2024.
The event marked a momentous occasion as the insurance company extended its services to the Pacific island nation.
Attended by prominent figures from the Vanuatu Business Community, Government officials, and members of the Samoan Community residing in Vanuatu, the soft opening ceremony resonated with optimism and enthusiasm. Namulau’ulu Papalii Sami Leota, spokesperson, and General Manager for Federal Pacific Insurance, expressed gratitude for reaching this pivotal moment. He emphasised FPI’s commitment to becoming a steadfast local partner and contributing positively to Vanuatu’s business landscape.
Acknowledging the rigorous vetting process overseen by the Reserve Bank of Vanuatu (RBV), Namulau’ulu underscored the importance of regulatory compliance in FPI’s operations. Despite pandemic-induced delays, the team’s dedication and the support of regulatory authorities ensured the successful establishment of the Vanuatu office.
Moreover, the event witnessed the presence of representatives from Vanuatu Insurance Brokers, signaling a collaborative spirit within the insurance industry. Narrelle Crawford, Assistant Manager for Vanuatu Insurance Brokers, welcomed FPI, recognising the potential for expanded insurance options benefiting customers.
Local Director Manji Timbaci echoed sentiments of optimism, stressing the significant prospects in Vanuatu’s insurance sector. Timbaci also noted the importance of upholding FPI’s reputation for quality services and efficient claims settlement.
A notable aspect of the soft opening was the simultaneous presence of officials from both the Vanuatu and Samoa Governments. A Samoan Member of Parliament (MP), Leaana Ronnie Posini, and Auditor General Fuimaono Camillo Afele, representing Samoa, coincidentally attended the event, along with the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and an MP for Tanna Constituency, Andrew Napuat. Timbaci regarded their presence as symbolic, suggesting a divine alignment of timing.
FPI’s expansion into Vanuatu marks another milestone in its journey across the Pacific region. With established offices in Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, and Timor Leste, FPI has demonstrated a commitment to serving diverse communities. Additionally, the company’s long-standing investments in Vanuatu, dating back to 1997, underscore its dedication to local development and employment.
As FPI embarks on this new chapter in Vanuatu, stakeholders anticipate positive contributions to the local economy and enhanced resilience against unforeseen risks.
The inauguration of FPI’s office symbolises not just a business expansion but a testament to the enduring partnership between Vanuatu and the broader Pacific community in navigating uncertain times with resilience and solidarity.
