The Department of Tourism (DoT) joins the nation this week in celebrating Vanuatu Made Week 2025, highlighting the creativity, resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of Ni-Vanuatu producers and manufacturers.
“Vanuatu Made products are more than just souvenirs – they represent the unique identity, culture and craftsmanship of our people,” the DoT stated. “From agricultural goods and beverages to handicrafts and value-added specialty items, these products create jobs, support local farmers and add significant value to the national economy.”
As part of this year’s celebration, the DoT acknowledges an exciting milestone in the promotion of Vanuatu Made products internationally. In November last year, Royal Caribbean International (RCI), one of the largest cruise companies serving Vanuatu, carried out a successful trial to supply and sell a range of 14 different Vanuatu Made products directly onboard its Quantumand Ovationclass vessels – each carrying up to 5,000 passengers. This selection was made through a rigorous selection by the cruise company itself and facilitated by the Department of Industry (DOI).
The products, which included kava-based items, Tanna Coffee and Vanuatu chocolate, received overwhelmingly positive feedback from passengers. After one year of the trial, RCI has reported strong uptake and customer satisfaction, demonstrating the global appeal of Vanuatu Made goods.
Building on this success, the DoT, together with the DoI and RCI, is now working towards expanding the range of Vanuatu Made products available onboard, with new listings currently under review to match customer demand.
Director of Tourism, Paul Pio, emphasised the importance of this initiative “The positive results from RCI’s trial clearly show that Vanuatu Made products have the quality and appeal to compete in international markets. This is a direct benefit for our farmers, producers and manufacturers, as it not only strengthens value-addition but also opens new pathways for sustainable income generation and boost tourism appeal to our international markets.”
The DoT extends its sincere appreciation to RCI for its commitment and partnership in promoting Vanuatu Made products to the world. Special thanks are also extended to the hardworking producers, local businesses and stakeholders whose efforts continue to drive the Vanuatu Made brand forward.
“This Vanuatu Made Week, we celebrate not only the achievements of our artisans and manufacturers but also the opportunities that lie ahead for Vanuatu’s economy through innovation, partnership and pride in our locally made products,” the DoT added.
