One male and one female suspect were remanded in custody by the Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon in connection with the robbery at the Port Vila International Airport Cargo Terminal on December 29, 2025.
Both suspects were denied bail and will remain in custody for 14 days while police investigations continue.
The male suspect faces several charges, including a separate theft case in Pango. Police allege he drove a Kia Bongo vehicle during that incident, dropping off and later collecting accomplices. Investigators believe he played a central role in the airport robbery, allegedly providing information on the timing and movement of cash.
The female suspect is accused of assisting by using a red vehicle to conduct surveillance, monitoring the cash transfer and police movements following the robbery. Police allege the pair worked in close coordination, raising concerns about possible insider involvement and airport security procedures.
The Vanuatu Police Force has not released full details of the robbery as inquiries remain ongoing. The case has drawn strong public reaction due to the scale of the offence and its location. Police are calling on anyone with relevant information to assist with the investigation.
