Chantilly’s on the Bay and Banyan Bar Operations Manager, Galo Munoz, has confirmed the bar will reopen in three weeks once the Chantilly’s building has been demolished, roads reopened, and the area declared safe.
The Banyan Bar is a popular casual bar located by the water, owned by the Director of Chantilly’s on the Bay Hotel, Loic Bernier, who also manages Ramada Resort in the Nambatu area.
Operations Manager Munoz revealed the bar has sustained minor structural damage, but most of its facilities are safe.
“Our kitchen is safe, and we will resume operations soon to service our customers with food and drinks,” he said.
With a total of 69 staff from Chantilly’s and Banyan, only 40% are currently working at Ramada Resort, while the rest are on break, waiting to be reposted.
“We have plans to reopen once the El Casa building and Chantilly’s building have been demolished, the roads leading to Fung Kuei reopened, and the area declared safe by the Government,” said Munoz.
He affirmed they will open in three weeks, depending on the demolition crew, led by Pierre Brunet Enterprise, to complete their work.
Munoz conveyed that Banyan and Chantilly’s are covered by insurance from Vanuatu Insurance Brokers.
