The Fruit Fest Committee has confirmed that the second edition of Fruit Fest will take place in the first week of November this year, following its first official meeting held on Wednesday this week.
The committee agreed that this year’s festival will run for four days, promising more activities, more fruits, and more opportunities for farmers, businesses, and families to take part.
Event coordinator Milroy Cainton, who is also the owner of Pikinini Bar and a strong supporter of local farmers and local fruit products, said this year’s Fruit Fest will be bigger, better, and more elevated than last year’s event.
Mr. Cainton explained that the decision to move the festival from September to November was carefully considered, as November is the time of year when more seasonal fruits are available. This will allow farmers and vendors to showcase a wider variety of fresh fruits and value-added fruit products.
He highlighted the success of last year’s Fruit Fest, which secured a major partnership with Intraco and several financial institutions. As a result, 19 Mitsubishi vehicles were sold, generating significant tax revenue for the government. In one inspiring outcome, a local farmer was able to purchase a vehicle using income earned from selling watermelons during the event.
Last year’s festival also proved popular with families and young people, featuring fruit competitions for children, smoothie competitions for students, and many fun and educational activities. Panel discussions were also held, covering themes such as fruit production from the garden through to finished products.
Mr. Cainton said one key difference this year is preparation time. While the first Fruit Fest was organised in just two months, the committee now has 10 months to prepare, allowing for better planning, stronger partnerships, and an improved overall experience.
With strong support from farmers, businesses, and the community, Fruit Fest 2026 is shaping up to be a major celebration of local fruits, healthy living, and economic opportunity.
