Demolition of Wong, Lolam and VNPF-owned buildings approved

The Port Vila City Council Planning has approved the demolition of more earth-damaged buildings in the Central Business District (CBD), apart from Hotel Olympic.

It includes the Wong Store at Tagabe, the Rivarec building owned by Caillard & Kaddour, Lolam building housing Yumiwork and some other offices, and the Vanuatu National Provident Fund (VNPF)-owned buildings like the National Bank of Vanuatu(NBV), Ex Customs and Inland Revenue building, which also house the Auditor General’s Office.

The Town Planning granted demolition permits for these buildings after receiving applications, including assessment reports.

According to the Town Planning, the building owners will cover demolition costs, which are expected to be handled Brunet Construction and Fletcher.
