Members of the public visiting Independence Park to explore the ‘Vanuatu Made’ tents at Independence Field proper also have the opportunity to check out the Mamas’ flower sales opposite the Melanesian Spearhead Group Secretariat building.

The President of the Mamas’ Flowers Association, Mr. Maurice Horry, thanked the Ministry of Trade and Industries for including flower vendors. With a broad smile and a thumbs-up, he said it had been his dream for some time to be part of government programmes in some way.

“Thank you to the ‘Vanuatu Made’ organisers for allowing our Mamas to join the event with our flowers this time,” he said.

“Why not? The public just needs to cross the street to admire all the colours of the rainbow in the flowers on sale. You may find one or two pots for your homes or offices and spend your money without regret.”

Mr. Horry encouraged everyone to take time over lunch or after work to visit the flower sales.

To public servants working in the nearby ministries and departments, he said, “Please feel free to drop by to check our flowers. Even hot food and soft drinks will be on sale too.”

“Those who lost their homes in last December 17 earthquake and have relocated to new homes are encouraged to check our flowers to beautify their spaces,” he added.

“I know that our members have increased the variety of flowers, and the recent rains have been a real blessing for their blooming. Do not miss this opportunity. We are closing on Friday (today).”
