Local manufacturers and exporters in Vanuatu are gearing up to formalise a new association aimed at giving their sector a strong, unified voice. The first meeting of the Vanuatu Association of Manufacturers and Exporters (VAME) is scheduled for 11 February at The Melanesian Hotel, with attendance limited to those holding Industrial Permits and/or Export Certificates or Permits.
The initiative stems from a 2023 workshop for exporters and manufacturers organised by Pacific Horticultural & Agricultural Market Access (PHAMA) Plus, where participants agreed that a dedicated sector-specific association could provide vital support.
VAME will focus on collaboration, sector coordination, training and skills development, technical assistance, quality standards, productivity, market intelligence, compliance, business excellence, and other forms of support for local businesses.
Other sector-specific associations in Vanuatu, such as the Vanuatu Hotel and Resort Association (VHRA), have been consulted to share best practices and guide the formation of VAME. The goal is to strengthen trade, unite the productive sector under a clear strategy, and ensure leadership is driven by the private sector.
The Department of Industry is supporting the initiative and should be contacted to confirm attendance in advance.
