Last Saturday the Luk Tung Kuen (LTK) Exercise Group hosted an annual Christmas party with the Vanuatu Society for People with Disability (VSPD) where they provide Christmas presents for more than 100 children and 100 adults.
According to Head of LTK Exercise Group, Regina Leong, every year during the festive season, as volunteers they bring Christmas joy to the VSPD, where they usually dance with them, sing Christmas carols, bring them food and presents.
Ellison Bovu, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VSPD, stated that while there is time for each family to have their own Christmas get-together, he would like to acknowledge those who turned up, creating a sense of one big family where things and food are shared.
“We will have our own get-together at home for Christmas, but I want to acknowledge that all of us are here as one big family. We are talking about inclusion, and we are here together—we do things together, we share things, and we share food. In our culture, food is something significant. When you share your food with a family member or a stranger, that’s when a bond begins.
“Most of us here have not seen each other since January; only your field workers have come by to visit us. So, at times like this, we are proud to be part of LTK, to be together and share food. We acknowledge our Almighty Father for the blessings provided by LTK and pray that blessings return to them as well. The business they run reflects the same generosity they are showing us,” he said.
