Rehabilitation works on the Efate Ring Road are advancing, with Pierre Brunet Entreprise Générale reporting progress in the early stages of the project.
Yesterday, the company confirmed that all potholes along the ring road have been patched under the Public Works Department’s scope, while heavy machinery and containers of bitumen and emulsion have arrived on site.
The company is awaiting the arrival of a bitumen melter, with major construction works scheduled to begin on 25th August. Residents and road users are advised to follow the company’s updates for ongoing progress.
The Efate Ring Road rehabilitation is part of the Vanuatu Government’s broader 100-day plan, which also includes upgrades to the Santo East Coast Road. The project, valued at VT963,700,000 and fully funded by the national budget, is managed through the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities and contracted to Pierre Brunet Entreprise Générale.
The project aims to strengthen the road surface using single and double chip sealing for increased durability in high-traffic areas, along with pavement markings to improve safety and visibility. Minister of Infrastructure and Utilities Xavier Emmanuel Harry highlighted the Government’s commitment to enhancing mobility and access to essential services, markets, and tourism opportunities while acknowledging public patience during construction.
Works for both roads started in April 2025, with completion expected by April 2026. The recent update signals that the project is now moving from preliminary preparations to full-scale rehabilitation, bringing communities one step closer to improved road conditions and safer travel.
