Australian indigenous band King Stingray to perform at Fest’Napuan

The Australian High Commission is proud to announce that acclaimed First Nations Australian band King Stingray will perform at this year’s Fest’Napuan.

Hailing from Northeast Arnhem Land, King Stingray blend Yolŋu manikay (songlines) with surf rock and funk, creating a unique and powerful sound that has captivated audiences across Australia and the world.

Their performance at Fest’Napuan marks the band’s first visit to Vanuatu and promises to be a celebration of Indigenous voices, connection to land, and the unifying power of music.

King Stingray’s participation is supported by the Australian Government as part of its ongoing commitment to deepening cultural ties and people-to-people links between Australia and Vanuatu.

“We are incredibly excited to support King Stingray’s performance at Fest’Napuan this year,” said Australian High Commission Political Counsellor, Ms Laura Frech Cardenas.

“The band represents the richness and diversity of Australia’s First Nations cultures, and their music celebrates joy, resilience, family and friendship. It’s a privilege to share this with ni-Vanuatu audiences.”

“Australia and Vanuatu are connected by strong Melanesian ties and Fest’Napuan is a wonderful celebration of Ni-Vanuatu and Melanesian music, culture and community,” said Ms Frech Cardenas.

King Stingray are coming to Vanuatu off the back of a European tour and performing in the Australian Pavilion at World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.

The Australian High Commission is a Platinum sponsor of Fest’Napuan 2025 and supporting King Stingray’s performance on the final night on Saturday, 6 September, Saralana Park.
