Passenger charter operator, Air Taxi, has resumed operations this week after having its operating certificate and license suspended following a crash at Monmarte on Efate in July that resulted in a fatality.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vanuatu (CAAV) confirmed that it has lifted the suspension of the Air Taxi’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC)
“Air Taxi has resumed operations, but with a scaled-down service of only one aircraft and one pilot,” CAAV conveyed.
“After CAAV cross-checked all aircraft systems, reviewed pilot training, and retrained the pilot, Air Taxi is now operating with only one plane.”
CAAV said that the issues highlighted in the recent Air Taxi crash report have been addressed, and without these corrections, the AOC would not have been reinstated.
“These issues have been resolved, evidence was provided to us, and we verified it. This is why we reinstated the AOC, though only with one aircraft and one pilot,” CAAV added.
“CAAV will continue to monitor the aircraft closely to ensure passenger safety remains the priority.
“For the public, Air Taxi has corrected the root cause of the recent accident to prevent it from happening again. Safety is always our priority, and the operations of Air Taxi have now returned to normal, with safety as the paramount concern.’’
Air Taxi was contacted for comments but has not yet provided a statement.
