Pharmaceutical producer gets trademark registration

The Vanuatu Intellectual Property Office (VanIPO) yesterday has registered under Trademark Act the Aimbie name and logo owned by a Vanuatu Made producer, Pastor Tali Aimbie from Central Malekula.

Pastor Tali’s business was awarded the most improved by the Department of Industry during the Vanuatu Made Awards. According to VanIPO, he produces pharmaceutical products with great health benefits, such as noni juice, noni cream, noni aftershave, and noni eyedropper.

The VanIPO explained that trademark registration takes three to four months to complete all necessary require processes. However, Aimbie Trademark stands as a testament to local determination, as it took a year from filing of application, number of face-to-face meetings, phone calls, logo adjustment and finally receiving the certificate of registration.

“Aimbie registered Trademark has both a logo and a name. The name Aimbie comes from the surname or the family name of Pastor Tali and the logo has 5 stars within a circle and half-moon shape with yellow colour and with lower green lane. The five stars symbolize his five children and the circle symbolizes the togetherness of the family, moon shape symbolize culture and green lane presents the green islands. Therefore, it is proper to secure its trademark identity and protection from infringement or imitation,” the VanIPO stated.

“With this new registered trademark Aimbie, Pastor Tali, now hold the exclusive right to use the name and logo for the purpose of trade in any of his products for a period of 10 years. Gaining competitive advantage and retain loyalty by assuring consumers of its authenticity.  

“For Pastor Tali, a registered Trademark owner has the benefits of pursuing legal action against infringers; the trademark will appear in searches locally, regionally, internationally for search requests; prevent imported goods with similar confusing marks, and provide an easier path to international trademark registration.

“Aimbie Products are making its way into shopping shelves around Port Vila now and slowly gaining its reputation for its health benefits therefore securing the trademark is a huge achievement for Pastor Aimbie.”
