No broken engine: Belair Airways

By Doddy Morris.

Belair Airways has confirmed that there was no broken engine in their aircraft.

In yesterday’s newspaper, page 3, in the article “Private air charter operators under heavy pressure to meet huge demand for domestic flights,” it was mentioned that Belair Airways is allegedly temporarily out of service due to a broken engine, further limiting available transport options.

The Vanuatu Daily Post reached out to Belair Airways before the publication of the article via phone for confirmation, but Belair responded that they could not provide information over the phone and requested that we send an email instead.

The Daily Post then sent an email seeking confirmation, as discussed in the phone conversation, noting that they would reply to our queries. The Daily Post received no response, so the information was classified as “allegations” and stated that Belair Airways had yet to confirm if it was true, as the information was given by an aviation expert.

However, yesterday morning, the Daily Post received a frustrated phone call from Belair Airways, during which they confirmed that there is no broken engine in their aircraft. The Daily Post understands their frustration and apologises for any harm caused.
