Demolition of the Wong Store building began yesterday, carried out by Pierre Brunet Entreprise Générale and Ward Demolition Ltd.
The Daily Post was on-site to observe the process. When asked about the businesses previously operating in the building, the owner of Teck Seng Store explained that they were renting a space and had subleased one of the rooms to the owner of Wong Building.
He stated that after the earthquake, they vacated the building due to severe damage and have since relocated their business to Tebakor, where they continue operations. The other businesses that rented space in the damaged building have also relocated to other areas.
Regarding the owner of Wong Building, the Teck Seng Store owner mentioned that, to their knowledge, he is currently residing in Australia.
Two other businesses that were renting space in the damaged building included Kenwu Industry Company and HXM Butchery.
With the demolition of the building underway, the site is expected to be fully cleared in the coming days.
The Daily Post has made several attempts to contact the owner of Wong Building, but these efforts have been unsuccessful.
