Space for sale setups now available at VCBN Manples Compound

The Vanuatu Cooperatives and Business Network (VCBN) has revealed that there is available space on their compound at Tagabe Manples for business associations to set up their sales.

VCBN Compliance Officer Binson Iauko confirmed that any associations or individuals wishing to set up at their yard will need to sign contract agreements to meet certain regulations and standards.

“We have space available at our office yard at Manples, where the Evans Association of market vendors is currently selling their produce,” he said. “All the facilities are available here for use, including water, toilets, and tents provided.”

Iauko confirmed that they are currently out of stock on tents but are looking to purchase more for their guests.

The fee remains at VT500 per day for a table under a tent, and sellers will need to manage their own waste.

Port Vila Mayor Jenny Regenvanu stressed the importance of the government finding space outside of the Central Business District (CBD) for business occupants to rent and sell their products. She is also a member of the Fest’Napuan committee, responsible for managing the number of handicraft sellers and shops that set up their booths at Saralana Park.

Mayor Regenvanu has appealed to the Convention Centre authorities to lend their land in front of the building and make it accessible for other businesses and individuals to set up their booths.

“Space limitations are a challenge at Saralana since we allow vendors and businesses to sell only from one side of the park,” she said.

Businesses whose shops were destroyed by the earthquake in the CBD continue to struggle to find affordable and accessible spaces to set up and restart.
